When coming to the Club Med Tennis Academies powered by Gabe Jaramillo offers language programs for students from beginner to advanced levels.
When enrolling in the program the student’s level will be assessed in order to create a unique and individualized program to get the most out of the program. Most of the program is face-2-face based in small groups. There is also a possibility to add a technology aspect in the form of Rosetta Stone or Tell Me More, guided by our language programs teachers. These programs include: listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
Because of the unique and individualized language program we are able to relate the language acquisition to real life by emerging the students in activities on the campus. The students will be able to use their new skills in daily activities, such as, eating at the restaurant and participating in one of the numerous activities provided on campus. So while learning the language they are also able to use it during the day and see the progress immediately.
This blended learning method gives the students the advantage to spend more time learning the language in different settings.
There are 5 different stages of second language acquisition and after assessing the student we will be able to tailor the program to the needs.
The different stages are:
1) minimal comprehension and verbal skills
2) limited comprehension and short responses
3) good comprehension and simple sentences
4) excellent comprehension and few grammatical errors
5) near-native level of speech.
These stages do not have clear set boundaries and should be seen as a flow. Most students arriving at the Club Med Tennis Academies powered by Gabe Jaramillo fall in the second or third stage of second language acquisition.
Rosetta Stone will be used when the student has very little knowledge of the English language. According to their website: “Rosetta Stone is a leader in the literacy education space, helping millions of students build fundamental reading skills through its Lexia Learning division. Additionally, the company’s Fit Brains business offers personalized brain training programs developed by neuroscientists and award-winning game designers to be fun and help keep your brain sharp.”
Tell Me More is a Rosetta Stone Company and is used when students are more advanced and want to develop more skills in the new language. According to their website: “TELL ME MORE® is a comprehensive approach to foreign language learning, combining rich, quality content with the flexibility and interactivity of multimedia. This solution can serve as an outstanding tool for training and for self-study. With the help of various types of activities, TELL ME MORE® aims to develop the communication skills that a learner must master: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. TELL ME MORE® covers, in context, the grammatical, lexical, phonetic and conjugation skills required to reach these objectives and to enable the learner to discover the culture of the country where the studied language is spoken.”
